Swieler XLR Microphone Cable 10m

At ten metres the cable stops being an accessory and becomes infrastructure. This is the run from a stage to a front-of-house position in a small or mid-sized venue: down off the riser, along the wall or under a mat, and back to the desk. It is the length that lets an operator mix from where the audience actually hears the room instead of from the side of the stage.

Corporate AV lives on this length too. Conference rooms and function spaces put the technician at the back, behind the last row, which is precisely where a presenter's microphone cannot reach without help. A ten-metre lead covers a typical boardroom or breakout room end to end, and covers a lectern-to-desk run in a hall with room to route around doorways rather than straight across the floor.

Roving microphones are the other common use. Q and A sessions, school assemblies, auction nights — anywhere a handheld has to be walked into the audience and back while staying plugged in. Ten metres gives a presenter meaningful freedom to move without a radio system.

Handling a longer run

Longer cables reward a little care. Dress the run along a wall or under a rubber mat rather than diagonally across a floor, leave a service loop at the connector end so a tug on the cable is not a tug on the pins, and coil it the same way every time so it pays out flat. The flexible PVC jacket on this cable is chosen to make that routine easy rather than a fight.
