Frequently Asked Questions

What does a cardioid pattern mean on the PM-25?

Cardioid means the microphone listens to what is directly in front of it and rejects what is behind. On stage that is what lets you put a foldback speaker behind the singer without the system howling. It also means the singer has to stay on axis: step off to the side and the level drops away.

Why would I want a vocal mic with no on/off switch?

Because a switch is one more thing that can be left off. For a band, a hired-out mic or a lectern where the sound operator controls the mix, a switchless body removes the commonest cause of a dead microphone. If you want the switch, the PM-25S is the same mic with one fitted.

Do I need a cable or phantom power for the PM-25?

You need a standard balanced XLR microphone cable, which is sold separately. No phantom power is required: this is a dynamic microphone, so it generates its own signal and will work on any mixer input. Dynamic capsules also handle high volume and rough handling better than condensers.
