Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Mini Converter SDI to Analog 4K do?

It takes SD, HD, 3G or 6G-SDI video and outputs analog, in HD or SD component as well as composite NTSC and PAL. That is how you get a modern SDI signal into older equipment: a legacy video monitor, a projector with only analog inputs, or a Betacam SP or VHS deck for archiving and transfer work.

Can I feed it an Ultra HD source?

Yes. A built-in down converter means an Ultra HD source can be connected and sent out as component video in HD or SD, or as NTSC and PAL. You do not need a separate down converter in front of it, which is the main thing this 4K version adds over the standard SDI to Analog model.

Will it carry the audio as well as the picture?

Yes, audio embedded in the SDI signal is de-embedded and presented on the analog outputs, so a single SDI cable in gives you both picture and sound out to the older device. This is the usual way to drive an analog monitor or a tape deck from an SDI router or switcher without a second box for audio.
