Frequently Asked Questions

Which transmitters do the 2LM-BGE lapel mics work with?

Each mic ends in a 3-pin mini XLR plug, the connector used on Phenyx Pro bodypack transmitters including the PWB-7 and PWB-5200. Mini XLR wiring differs between manufacturers, so check the microphone input on your bodypack if it is another brand.

Why does the pack contain two lapel mics?

Two mics cover a two-channel wireless system outright, so a presenter and an interviewer, or a celebrant and a reader, are both miked from one purchase. They also make a sensible spare: a lapel cable is the part most likely to fail on hire stock, and a dead mic mid-service is far more costly than a spare in the case.

Where should I clip a lavalier mic for the best sound?

About a hand's width below the chin, on the centre of the chest, with the capsule pointing up towards the mouth. Keep it clear of necklaces, lanyards, scarves and jacket lapels that can brush the capsule, because that rustle is louder through a mic than it sounds in the room.
